Brown Betty Teapot - Manager’s Special

Brown Betty Teapots are reputed to make the best tea in the world.

The concept dates back to the 17th century. The shape of the Brown Betty Teapot causes the tea leaves to be gently swirled around when boiling water is added. They are made of red terra-cotta clay found only in Stoke-On-Trent in Straffordshire, England. Their special production method gives the pots and even thickness and smooth finish inside and out. They are finished with a Rockingham brown glaze.

Brown Bettys are top rack dishwasher safe, but are not intended for use in a microwave or on a stove top. Since they are handmade, some variations or “imperfections” are normal.

Our 6 Cup Brown Betty Teapot holds 36 fluid oz.

Save $3.99 each when you purchase Brown Betty Teapots now through November 1, 2007 or while supplies last.

Mélange Hédiard Ground Coffee Blend - Featured Product

Ferdinand Hédiard was scarcely thirteen when he announced to his parents that he wanted to enroll as a Compagnon du Tour de France. He did not long remain an apprentice: during his travels, he happened to spot a cargo of exotic fruit in the port of Toulon. The use of these rare fruits in various products would become his specialty.

In 1850, Ferdinand opened his first shop. Four years later he relocated to 21 Place de la Madeleine, a small shop in the heart of a bustling square. It is here that many cosmopolitan and noteworthy figures have shopped including maharajas, kings, princes and Hollywood stars. The flagship store still remains at this address, while the company has grown to overseas distribution.

Hédiard’s faithful adherence to ancestral methods of selecting premium ingredients and impressive preparations have proven their worth in a demanding culinary culture. Hédiard’s ground coffee blends are no exception. This Mélange Hédiard is an outstanding brew served with cream or without and provides an excellent finish to any meal.

Each tin contains 8.81 ounces of Mélange Hédiard Ground Coffee by Hédiard and is imported from France.

Fleur de Sel de Guerande - Manager’s Special

Fleur de Sel is an all natural sea salt from Brittany France. This particular Fleur de Sel (flower of salt) is hand harvested in the town of Guerande between May and September.

The salt fields of Guerande are long and narrow so that an artisan paludier (salt harvester) can sweep the top of the evaporating sea water to harvest the precious sel gris de Guerande (hand harvested salt with a grey cast). The harvested sea water is drawn into an area lined with clay where the sun and wind help evaporate the water and the layers of salt are raked away.

That single days evaporation of salt crust is harvested as the Fleur de Sel. For every 80 pounds of sel gris produced, there is one pound of Fleur de Sel that is harvested.

Rich in trace elements, the taste of Fleur de Sel is the complex balance of the sea and her minerals with small flaky crystals, a moist texture and slightly grey/pink cast. It is used generally to finish a dish, as a condiment, rather than a spice.

Fleur de Sel de Guerande is a natural compliment to fresh raw vegetables and salads and can elevate the flavor of grilled meats and fish.

Each violet colored jute bag contains 8 ounces (250 g.) net weight of Fleur de Sel de Guerande by le Paludier from France.

Save $1.79 each when you purchase Fleur de Sel de Guerande now through October 25, 2007 or while supplies last.
